Penguins from Hell-ifax!

Hello My name is Sonya Ramsey and I will be working with Andrew and Lisa to amuse you each month with stories on topics randomly selected using a random google search engine. For Aprils topic, Penguins from Hell - I am going to start by sharing a story with you about a penguin that is right now just off the coast of Halifax, where I live. This penguin was picked is a baby empire penguin who was picked up by a Korean fishing troller. The sailors thought the penguin was dead or ill and scooped him up. The penguin was quickly revived and as the boat is currently in lockup- getting fixed up - somewhere in Cape Brenton, the penguin lives in the walk-in fridge and comes out during the day to be played with and cuddled by the sailors. This story was told to me by my friend's boyfriend who is one of the divers fixing up the ship. While this penguin is not from hell so much-- he is in Hell-ifax (aka Halifax, Nova Scotia) where I am from.

I had a personal penguin experience when I visited the Edinburgh zoo as a child. They have a colony of king penguins there that everyday take a walk. It's called the penguin parade and the zoo stops while all the penguins are led out on their ramble. They are aggressive walkers and demand that you get out of their way. I was enchanted by them but they were more annoyed by us. As they waddled along they squawked to make us move from their path. No manners!

Google also suggests my dog

I ran another Google experiment today, similar to the "Why does my cat do that?" post that none of you read. Interestingly enough, though, I found that dog owners universally want to know only one thing: "Why does my dog eat poop?"

The answer, in a nut shell, is that dogs just aren't grossed out by eating poop like humans are.

Hm. I think we all learned something today.

Shakespeare + Actionscript = Ultimate Poetic Geekdom

OK, so I found this today while surfing the 'net. It's a hilarious little piece of Actionscript (a web scripting language) that works out Shakespear's Sonnet 18. Enjoy.
